Welcomes victory of Siargao, Palawan and Boracay in international travel magazine awards

Team Out of Town Blog Hub  – The inclusion of the best tourist destinations in the Philippines in the readers’ choice awards in 2021 of the prestigious Condé Nast Traveler (CNT) is a testament to the hard work of the tourism industry “To strengthen our position as a first-class destination” for international tourists.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) made the statement on Wednesday (October 6th) as three of the country’s award-winning local destinations topped the list for the Asia category.

The surf port of Siargao Island was recognized as this year’s most popular in Asia, while the world-famous islands of Palawan and Boracay won third and eighth place, respectively. They defeated other world favorites such as the Indonesian islands of Raja Ampat (second), the Thai islands of Phi Phi (ninth) and Phuket (10th).

“At a time when we are running out of funds to revive tourism in the country, we are grateful for this new recognition from Condé Nast Traveler. We have worked to strengthen our position as the best-conscious destination in the world, while ensuring that the health and safety protocols in our destinations are implemented and complied with, “said Tourism Minister Berna Romulo-Puyat.

“This recognition portends a good recovery for the country’s tourism industry and our latest global ‘More Fun Awaiting’ campaign, which demonstrates DOT’s preparation for international leisure travel once the restrictions are lifted,” she added.

The Philippines, meanwhile, ranked 20th on CNT’s list of the world’s best countries with a score of 91.63.

The results of the Readers’ Choice Awards for 2021 demonstrate the latest experiences of readers and – given the travel constraints imposed by the pandemic – give an idea of where passengers “dream to move forward” when the world reopens for international travel.

Siargao was also selected by TIME as one of the 100 largest places in the world in 2021. Palawan ranked 19th in the Top 25 Islands in the world by Travel + Leisure magazine and fifth in the Asian category this year. Palawan was also included in the CNT list of the 30 best beaches in the world in 2020.
