Mobile Number Portability

How to switch mobile networks without changing your number?

Team Out of Town Blog Hub – Mobile users are happy because you can now switch to other networks without changing your numbers. You can still use your existing phone number from September 30, thanks to the Mobile Number Portability Act.

How to switch mobile network without changing mobile number

If you want to switch to another network, don’t worry; switching network providers is free. This is due to compliance with the Republican Law 11202 or the Mobile Number Portability Act, Mobile Number Portability (MNP), which gives mobile phone users the freedom to conveniently and seamlessly choose their telecommunications service provider.

It also helps to promote the well-being of consumers, as it promotes the freedom to choose and respond to quality, price and other important considerations.

According to the official Smart website, you can now visit the nearest Smart Store to request your Intra MNP app. You can also start applying for an external MNP (Dito and Globe transferring to SMART) as of September 30, 2021.

According to Smart, there will be a maximum of 4 hours of service interruption (without voice, SMS and data) to complete activation from your new subscription. For internal transfer, your MVP rewards will be saved.

Just note that you can only apply if your mobile number is active and there are no unpaid account fees.

Before visiting the store, be sure to take the following:

Any valid SIM card ownership certificate (prepaid only).

Any of the following:

The original SIM bed / jacket on your prepaid SIM card; The original PUK sheet of your prepaid SIM card; A copy of an official receipt issued by SMART with your prepaid mobile number; Successful login to MySmart Web or MyPLDTSmart App or GigaLife App; or a PayMaya account linked to a mobile number (the account must be linked to Paymaya for 3 months or more).

Standard requirements for deferred payment application (postpay only).

The Globe was the first to launch its internal transfer last April 21st. Before visiting the nearest Globe store, be sure to prepare the following:

Active SIM or mobile phone number No financial obligations or balances from your previous prepaid account No transfer request in the last 60 days No data on fraudulent activities

How does mobile number portability work?

Once you apply to your current network, you will receive a 9-digit unique subscriber code. The source network will then receive a transfer permission request from the receiving network.

The request must be processed within 24 hours. Finally, the receiving network must provide and activate the new SIM card within 24 hours.

It will also take about 60 days before you have the right to request another translation. There is also no limit to the number of times a person can switch between telecommunications operators.
