Phu Quoc Island is known for its idyllic beaches, romantic sunsets, evergreen forests and serene atmosphere. But that’s not all. Phu Quoc is also home to a collection of magnificent starfish.
Come here and you can swim and watch the colorful starfish at the same time. A whole new experience awaits you.
The perfect time to see starfish in Phu Quoc.
As people usually think, the best time to travel to the sea or beaches is summer. The case is not correct if you want to see starfish in Phu Quoc. To have the best view of starfish here, you should arrange the time around March or April.
In March or April, the sun is just the right brightness, the sky is deep blue and the water is crystal clear. Most importantly, starfish are everywhere and very close to the shore. They are right on top of the sand, lying down to sunbathe.
The clear, crystal blue, calm sea with extremely soft white sand makes it easy for any tourist to spot bright orange starfish.
You can take lots of pictures with them, but avoid stepping on them or taking them out of the water. These warnings will be elaborated in detail later.

Rach Vem Fishing Village (Làng chài Rạch Vẹm)
If you’re looking for places out of the ordinary, to unwind in peace or just get away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities, Rach Vem Fishing Village will suit your needs and more.
This destination has only been discovered and started to open up to tourism for a couple of years now. That’s why the beach you will visit here still shines with unspoiled beauty. The sea water is clearer than ever. Just do a Google search to see how majestic the beach here can be with the abundance of vibrant starfish.
One plus point about this village is how friendly the locals are. They are always willing to help. Since most of the locals live off fishing and have only recently started to benefit from tourism, they are down to earth. They offer you their own seafood that they catch and cook. Their cuisine is definitely out of this world.
If you travel from Duong Chau city, the fishing village of Rach Vem is about 25 km away. You can take a taxi or rent a motorbike and get there by yourself.
A very important note here is not to visit the place during the weather from May to September.
There are two reasons. Firstly, since there are many heavy rains during this time, the road leading to Rach Vem fishing village, which is rough, earthy and dusty, is soaked with water, making it muddy and extremely difficult for any vehicle to travel. It would take more than 2 hours.
Secondly, from May to September, garbage and dirty seawater from the end of the Mekong River usually reach the north of Phu Quoc Island, which is Rach Vem. This has destroyed the biodiversity of the place, driving away starfish from the shore. Unfortunately, many tourists have visited this village during this time and have many complaints about the bad experience.
Sao Beach (Bãi Sao).
Bai Sao beach is located on the coast of An Thoi town, about 25 km from Duong Dong city center. It is a beach worth visiting in Phu Quoc for its soft sandy shore and clear blue waters. When you set foot on Bai Sao Beach, you will be amazed by the unspoiled beauty of the beach and the majestic scenery that surrounds it.
The dry season, which lasts from November to March, is the best time to take a trip to Bai Sao Beach. In this season, the temperature stays between 25 and 28°C. There can be many visitors to Phu Quoc, so hotels can fill up quickly.
Another ideal time to enjoy Bai Sao Beach is from mid-April to June. However, the weather can be a bit hot and humid. Therefore, you should bring water and sunscreen whenever you leave the hotel.
